Voice Channel Setup
Configure phone numbers for inbound and outbound AI voice calls with ultra-human text-to-speech in about 20 minutes.
Prerequisites
- A Flametalk account with an agent created
- Credits in your account for phone number provisioning
- ~20 minutes of your time
How Voice Channels Work
Voice channels connect your AI agents to phone numbers. When someone calls the number (or you initiate an outbound call), your agent handles the conversation in real-time.
Call Flow
Create a Voice Channel

Navigate to Channels in the sidebar.

Click + New Channel.

Select Voice as the channel type.

Enter a name for your channel (e.g., "Main Support Line").
Get a Phone Number
You have two options for getting a phone number:
Provision New Number
Get a new phone number directly through Flametalk. Fastest option.
- • Choose country and area code
- • Number is ready instantly
- • Monthly fee applies
Bring Your Own Number
Port an existing phone number you already own.
- • Submit number porting request
- • Verification required
- • Takes 1-2 business days
Provisioning a New Number

Select Provision New Number.
- b
Choose a country (US, UK, Canada, etc.).
- c
Optionally filter by area code or search for specific digits.

Select an available number and click Provision.
US Number Requirements
US toll-free numbers may require additional verification (A2P 10DLC). Local numbers are generally faster to provision.
Connect Your Agent

In the channel settings, find the Agent section.

Select the agent you created earlier from the dropdown.

Click Save.
Configure Channel Settings
Customize how your channel handles calls:
Inbound Calls
Enable or disable inbound call handling. When enabled, your agent will answer incoming calls.
Voicemail
Configure voicemail for when your agent is unavailable or the caller requests to leave a message.
Caller Screening
Block anonymous callers or specific phone numbers.
Retry Settings
For outbound calls, configure automatic retry for unanswered calls.
Test Your Channel

Click Test Call in the channel settings.

Enter your phone number to receive a test call.

Answer the call and have a conversation with your agent.

Check the call log to review the transcript.
You're All Set!
Your voice channel is now live. Share your phone number with customers or use it for outbound campaigns.
