Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions and answers about Flametalk's AI voice platform.
General
What is Flametalk?
Flametalk is an AI voice agent platform that enables businesses to automate phone calls with natural-sounding AI agents. You can create agents that make and receive calls, schedule appointments, qualify leads, and more—all without human intervention.
How realistic do the AI agents sound?
Our agents use ultra-human text-to-speech technology combined with advanced OpenAI models for natural conversation. Most callers can't tell they're speaking with an AI. You can preview voices in the dashboard before selecting one.
What languages are supported?
Flametalk currently supports English and Spanish with native-quality voices. Additional languages (Portuguese, French, German) are coming soon. Contact us if you need a specific language prioritized.
Can I use my own phone numbers?
Yes! You can provision new phone numbers through Flametalk with global coverage, or port your existing numbers to our platform. We support local numbers in 60+ countries.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, all new accounts receive free credits to test the platform. You can create agents, make test calls, and run small campaigns without entering payment information.
Pricing & Billing
How does pricing work?
Flametalk uses a credit-based system and is one of the most affordable AI voice and WhatsApp platforms in the market. You purchase credits which are consumed based on call duration and features used. Plans include monthly credit allocations, and you can purchase additional credits as needed.
What counts against my credits?
Credits are consumed for:
- • Call duration (per-minute rate)
- • Phone number rental (monthly)
- • AI processing (included in call rate)
- • Transcription (included)
Do unused credits roll over?
Monthly plan credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. Purchased credit packs never expire as long as your account is active. Enterprise plans have custom rollover policies.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. You'll retain access until the end of your billing period. Phone numbers will be released unless you port them out.
Technical
What's the latency like?
Average response latency is 400-600ms, which feels natural in conversation. This includes speech-to-text, AI processing, and text-to-speech. We continuously optimize for lower latency.
How do I handle agent mistakes?
Write clear instructions with example conversations and edge cases. Use our evaluation tools to identify issues, then refine instructions. For critical use cases, enable human handoff when confidence is low.
Can agents transfer to humans?
Yes, you can configure agents to transfer calls to human operators when needed. Set transfer rules based on caller requests, specific topics, or confidence thresholds.
What AI models do you use?
We use advanced OpenAI models for conversation intelligence and ultra-human text-to-speech technology. You can customize model settings in your agent configuration.
What are the API rate limits?
Default limits are 1,000 requests per hour and 100 requests per minute per API key. Enterprise plans have higher limits. See our rate limits documentation for details.
How reliable is the platform?
Flametalk targets 99.9% uptime. We use redundant infrastructure across multiple AWS regions. Real-time status is available at status.flametalk.ai.
Compliance & Security
Is Flametalk TCPA compliant?
Flametalk provides tools for TCPA compliance (DNC lists, consent tracking, calling hour restrictions), but compliance is ultimately your responsibility. We recommend consulting with legal counsel for your specific use case.
Do I need to disclose it's an AI?
Regulations vary by jurisdiction. Some states require disclosure that the call is automated. We recommend configuring your agent to disclose its AI nature when asked, and proactively in jurisdictions that require it.
How is call data stored?
Call recordings and transcripts are stored encrypted in AWS S3. Data is retained for 90 days by default, configurable per your needs. You can delete data at any time via the API or dashboard.
Is Flametalk SOC 2 compliant?
We are currently pursuing SOC 2 Type II certification. Enterprise customers can request our security documentation and complete a security questionnaire.
Can I use Flametalk in the EU?
Yes, we support GDPR compliance requirements. Data can be stored in EU regions for enterprise customers. Standard DPA agreements are available upon request.
Integrations
Which CRMs do you integrate with?
We have native integrations with HubSpot and Kommo. You can connect to other CRMs via Zapier or our webhook/API. Salesforce and Pipedrive integrations are coming soon.
Can agents book appointments?
Yes! Our Cal.com integration allows agents to check availability and book appointments during calls. Google Calendar support is coming soon. See our Cal.com integration guide.
How do webhooks work?
Flametalk sends HTTP POST requests to your endpoints when events occur (call completed, goal reached, etc.). Payloads are signed for security. See our webhooks documentation.
Do you have SDKs?
We currently focus on providing a robust REST API with comprehensive documentation and code examples in multiple languages. SDKs may be added based on demand.
